Joined LARC Rise: I am one of the founders and managers of LARC Rise

I began my career with children and young people with special needs in 2000, working as a teaching assistant in a school for pupils with severe learning disabilities. During my time in education, I worked with children with severe and profound learning disabilities and later those with complex learning needs and autism. In 2009, I left there and along with Kim and Sandra we founded LARC Rise. I thoroughly enjoy what I do and think myself very lucky. It doesn’t feel like coming to work, the users and staff at LARC Rise are my second family.

Joined LARC Rise: I am one of the founders and managers of LARC Rise

I have worked with young people and adults with varying difficulties for 35 years in various roles. I find my time with these people incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. The centre and its users give me great pride in all their achievements.

Clare

Joined LARC Rise: January 2022 but have been a trustee since the centre first opened

I have worked with children with autism and complex needs for over 20 years. Previously as a teaching assistant in a local school for those with severe learning difficulties. We merged schools and I moved to another local school. This time working with nursery and reception aged children. I was able to support parents and always made time for a cup of tea and providing a listening ear. I went on to become a qualified teacher.

Having worked with Lisa and Kim previously, for me, joining LARC Rise has been like coming home! I thrive on being involved in all activities and particularly love making a mess.

Sandra

Likes: crochet, reading and holidays

I work 2 days a week and cover. I was with LARC Rise from it’s conception and am really proud of how it has grown. It’s fantastic to know that those we support enjoy their time with us and that their families know they are safe and well catered for. The atmosphere is happy and calm and this benefits us all.
